Getting started
How do I get started?
Create an account, answer a few quick questions, and pick your starter companion. Then invite your partner with your invite link or code. Once you are paired, complete your daily tasks to start building your shared streak.
How do I pair with my partner?
Open the menu and share your invite link or 6-character code. When your partner opens the link — or types the code into "My partner sent me a code" — your two accounts are linked, and you share one streak, one coin balance and one collection. You can unpair at any time from the menu.
Can I use GymCrush on my own?
Yes. You can complete daily tasks, earn coins and build your collection solo. The shared streak and Team Assist only come alive once you pair with a partner.
How the game works
How does the shared streak work?
GymCrush uses a single couple streak rather than one each. Each day you both complete daily tasks, and once your combined progress reaches the daily goal, the streak is safe and ticks up by one. If the goal is not met, the streak is at risk.
What is Team Assist?
Team Assist merges both partners' daily goals into one shared bar. Instead of each of you finishing separately, your combined completions count toward a single goal — so if one of you has a brutal day, the other can carry the streak.
What is a Streak Freeze?
A Streak Freeze protects your couple streak on a day you cannot hit the goal. Arm it ahead of time and it acts as a shield, so a missed day does not reset you to zero. You can earn freezes or buy them with coins.
How do coins and chests work?
You earn shared coins by completing tasks and keeping your streak going. Spend them on reward chests and shop items. Chests are randomised — opening one reveals a companion, accessory, background or consumable, at different rarities. The odds for each rarity are shown in the app before you spend anything.
How do I collect and equip mascots?
Companions you unlock go into your shared collection. From the Collection screen you can browse everything you have found and equip one to appear on your home screen. You and your partner each equip your own, and you will both see both.
What are moments (photos)?
You can take a photo in the app and send it to your partner. It appears in the app and can rotate through the GymCrush home-screen widget. It is entirely optional — the app works fine without ever taking one. Photos are private to the two of you and are stored so your partner can see them; see the Privacy Policy for exactly how they are handled.
Premium and subscriptions
What is the difference between free and premium?
The core couple experience — pairing, the shared streak, daily tasks, coins and chests — is free. Premium unlocks additional benefits, and it applies to both of you: when one partner subscribes, the other gets premium too for as long as you stay paired. You will see exactly what is included on the purchase screen before you buy.
Is there a free trial?
A free trial is offered on some plans but not all — the purchase screen always tells you whether the plan you have selected includes one, how long it lasts, and what you will be charged when it ends. Trials convert to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before they end.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside GymCrush. Go to iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → GymCrush → Cancel Subscription. You keep premium until the end of the period you already paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all refunds, since Apple is the seller. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong on our side, email us as well — we will help and will back up your request.
I paid but did not get my coins or items
First, try Restore Purchases from the app's settings. If they still have not arrived, email us with the receipt from Apple and we will grant them manually.
Privacy and data
What data does GymCrush collect?
Your account, shared streak, coins and collection are stored in the cloud and shared with your paired partner — that is what makes the couple experience work. We use Supabase for accounts, game data and photo storage, PostHog for product analytics, RevenueCat for subscriptions, and Apple for payments. The Privacy Policy lists everything in detail.
Does GymCrush track me or sell my data?
No. We do not sell your data, we use no advertising trackers, and we never show the iOS tracking permission prompt because we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
To be straight with you about one detail: our product analytics events are linked to your account identifier — they are not anonymous. We use them to see which features work and to fix bugs, and for nothing else.
Does GymCrush read my Apple Health data?
No. GymCrush does not connect to Apple Health and reads no health data from your device. Everything the app knows about your activity is what you told it by completing a task.
Can my partner see my email or payment details?
No. Your partner sees the shared couple state — streak, coins, collection, daily progress, your display name and equipped companion. They never see your email address, password, payment details or analytics.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Menu → Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete account. This deletes your account, profile, photos, push token and personal game data, and resets your analytics identifier.
Two things worth knowing. Data genuinely shared with your partner — your couple's history, or a photo you already sent — may stay part of their record. And deleting your account does not cancel your subscription; cancel that through Apple, or you will keep being billed.
Troubleshooting
My streak or coins did not sync with my partner
- Make sure you are both on the latest version of the app
- Check that you both have an internet connection — shared data syncs through our servers
- Pull to refresh, or close and reopen the app, to force a sync
- Confirm in the menu that you are still paired with the right person
Pairing is not working
- Make sure the invite link or code is fresh — they expire
- Only one active pairing is supported, so unpair from any previous partner first
- Both accounts need to be signed in and online to finish pairing
- If tapping the link does nothing, open GymCrush and use "My partner sent me a code" to type the code by hand
The invite link does not open the app
- iOS only registers a link with an app when the app is installed, so install GymCrush first, then tap the link again
- If it still opens in the browser, use the 6-character code instead — it does exactly the same thing
Notifications are not arriving
- Check iOS Settings → GymCrush → Notifications and make sure they are allowed
- Check that Focus or Do Not Disturb is not filtering them
- Reminders only make sense once you are paired and have a streak going
The widget is blank or stale
- Open the app once after adding the widget so it has data to show
- iOS decides when to refresh widgets, so give it a few minutes
- Remove and re-add the widget if it stays empty
The app crashes or freezes
- Make sure you have the latest version installed
- Force-close the app and reopen it
- Restart your device
- If it keeps happening, email us with your device model, iOS version and what you were doing — that is usually enough for us to find it
